Why Halo has one market

Halo keeps one SOL pair, one fee schedule and one curve for every coin. This page explains the belief behind that design.

A vamp is a coin that copies another coin's name, ticker or image to pull its buyers.

Vamps have happened on every chain and every launchpad, and they will keep happening. Halo addresses them through the design of the market. Our belief is that the most effective way to handle copies is a market with fewer places to play the same game. Each extra pair, fee setting or mode is another place where the same idea can launch again, so Halo keeps one market and the same rules for every coin.

What Halo has

  • One pair. Every coin trades against SOL.
  • One fee schedule. Every coin has the launch tax in block 0, which falls to the normal fee within a second.
  • One curve. Every coin starts at the same price and graduates at the same market cap.
  • The same rules for every coin. Creators cannot set custom fees, and there are no coin types or modes.
  • Every ticker is accepted.

Why each of those

  • One SOL pair. With several pairs, the same idea can launch against USDC, xStocks or another asset and split its buyers across them. One SOL pair keeps every coin's buyers in one market.
  • One fee schedule. When creators can set fees, a copy can advertise cheaper trading or bigger rewards to pull traders and creators away. One schedule makes every Halo coin cost the same to trade.
  • One curve and no modes. Each mode or coin type is another venue for the same idea. One curve gives every coin one price path, so a copy has no different way to trade.
  • Every ticker accepted. A ticker rule is avoided by choosing another ticker, and it can block a real project that arrives a minute after a copy. Coins are told apart by their mint address.

What this means in practice

Buying 5% of a new coin in the first block costs 3.65 SOL on Halo, 7.29 SOL in block 0, and 1.47 SOL on Pump's published curve. A copy on Halo rises along the same curve as the original, so pushing its chart takes real capital at every step. The numbers are in First-block pricing and Halo vs Pump in pictures.

Halo cannot stop someone launching a copy, and a copy that people prefer can win.
